Ken Lund (Wise Man Racing) wins 2008 NSA Championship

After a wild season of new event winners and new National Records, the 2008 National Speed Association Pro Stock Asphalt sled Champion is Ken Lund from Brunswick, Maine. Lund and the Wise Man Racing Team of Andy Emmertz and Andy Palmer had an excellent season of racing. They took their Polaris Edge 1000cc Pro Stock to the final during the 2008 Camoplast Asphalt Challenge and got their first win at the Dalton Industries sponsored race in Maryland. Consistency was the key for the team from Maine as they qualified in the top half of the field at all six races and went to the semi-final round in both Maple Grove, PA and the Millennium Technologies sponsored race at New England Dragway.

As the 2008 NSA Points Champion, Lund will be wearing a new custom leather suit next season from Vanson Leathers©. Congratulations to the entire Wise Man Racing Team on a well-deserved Championship win.

The last race of the season created some major changes to the 2008 Championship points. Kristin Stanley (PCS Performance) moved from seventh to third with the event win and Jeff Cullen (Abbott’s Power Equipment) moved from third to second with his runner up finish.

There has been a different winner at each event this season which says a lot about the competitiveness of the teams that race in the NSA series. The NSA series has had so many different winners over the years that you just never know who is going to go home with the win until the final round has finished.

Congratulations to all of the racers on another successful season of asphalt racing.

About The National Speed Association (NSA):

The National Speed Association is a heads up, Pro Stock asphalt snowmobile drag racing circuit.  Since its inception in 2005, NSA has brought together riders from all over the US and Canada to give them a venue in which to showcase their talents.  Today the NSA series competes at premiere IHRA and NHRA sanctioned tracks across the country in an annual point’s series.  The competition has become fierce over the years with over 20 teams currently chasing the NSA Championship Title.

At an NSA race, spectators and fans can take a close-up look at cutting edge two-stroke race engineering and talk directly to the builders and riders of these unbelievable machines!  To add to the excitement, all races are run in a heads up format with a .400 Pro Tree making awesome side-by-side snowmobile drag racing.

NSA is a self-governing organization with its own set of technical and safety rules developed from the IHRA and NHRA asphalt snowmobile divisions.  These awesome Pro Stock sleds make over 260 horsepower, rip down the quarter mile in eight seconds and travel at speeds of over 150 mph!

Thanks,
Kristin Stanley

A plane like a Boeing 747 uses approximately 1 gallon of fuel (about 4 liters) every second. Over the course of a 10-hour flight, it might burn 36,000 gallons (150,000 liters). According to Boeing's Web site, the 747 burns approximately 5 gallons of fuel per mile (12 liters per kilometer).
