About Maryland International Raceway - MIR is a legendary drag racing facility located in Budds Creek, Maryland and has been operated by the Miller family since 1989. Over the years, the Miller’s have made continuous improvements to their beloved facility, making it the premiere drag strip that it is today. MIR’s elevation is only 80’ and that’s why so many national records are set at this track. In 2007 during the NSA race at MIR, Paul Austin set a new track record and National Pro Stock 1000cc record with an 8.354-second pass during eliminations. Austin followed up his record setting run with an incredible 8.213-second pass in the next round! We’ve seen some awesome racing at MIR and several of the NSA sleds have made their best passes there. All of the racers are looking forward to a return visit in 2008. For more info on MIR, visit their website www.mirdrag.co

About NSA – The National Speed Association was formed in 2005 by a bunch of grass roots snowmobile racers looking to create a Professional platform to race some of the fastest naturally aspirated 1000cc sleds in the world. Today the NSA asphalt series races at premiere IHRA and NHRA tracks across the country in a competitive points series. Through hard work and perseverance the series has created lasting relationships with several amazing corporate sponsors to form an excellent purse for each event. To add to the excitement, all races are run heads up with a .400 Pro Tree creating awesome side-by-side drag racing for the spectators and fans. The CANAM Ice Series

has been in the works for a while and now its a reality. Mike, Joe and Stan have put together a series of 4 races over 2 weekends which starts in Welwynn Sk and ends in Minot ND. Lots of sweat and negotiation have gone into this and looks like lots of interest.

The races are sanctioned by the SSRA and will be held in Welwynn on Feb 2nd and 3rd and in Minot on Feb 23rd and 24th. I will attend both these races if all things permit. Hope to see lots of Icers out and attempt to steal the glory.

USST Leads The Way In Space Elevator Travel

I know this has little to do with Racing, but my nephew is on this team and for the 3rd year in a row, they are the leaders in this competition. The University of Saskatchewan, ALL , can be proud of their accomplishments. The competition was harder and rules even more so, but the dedication and perserverance gave them the win. They came out just short of winning the cash, but are still the leaders in this new technology.

Congratulations To All.

SSRA Finale Photos

The Photos are up...Results Are Here...
A Huge Thanks to Elaine Klassen for taking shots on day one. I was making an attempt to announce, and as talented as I am, I couldn't film, photograph and announce at the same time. Thank God Matt Bradley came in on sunday and I was able to resume my normal duties. Don and Elaine are also the latest sponsors to the site, so a double thanks are in order.

Jamie and Trevour Hogg retire from the grass.

In his last race, Jamie wins Top ET, and sets a track record of 4.51. I know a lot of Racers around the country are glad to hear of his retirement. Jamie is a pain in the side of a lot of teams. They will be continuing their quest on ice. See you in the cold...

Klassens HayDays

There is a price to pay when someone else takes the shots. Beware...
Thanks to Elaine for her photos of Hay Days. It may pay to check and see if You are in her shots somewhere. I thought I was safe among friends.

No wonder you were so hospitable...

Hay Days Photos

Without exception, The Snobarons continue to rule the snowmobile world with the outstanding Hay Days ....
I have placed all photos up, good, bad and ugly.
I really want to thank Dale for his company and for sharing his love of the sport.
I also want to thank Don and Elaine Klassen for their hospitality.

2007 NSA Champion crowned at the Camoplast Asphalt Challenge in Epping, NH

Congratulations to Jeff Cullen (Gray, ME) on clinching the 2007 NSA Championship points series on the Abbott’s Power Equipment Polaris IQ. Cullen qualified 3rd for the fifth straight time this season during the Camoplast Asphalt Challenge in Epping, NH. Mother Nature was not kind to us that day as a heavy thunderstorm came through in the late afternoon and intermittent showers continued throughout the evening, which forced the track to eventually cancel all competition classes.

The A2Z Racing Team of Ed Armstrong, Bob Girrior and Dan Zering also sealed up the 2nd place Championship points spot after qualifying on Saturday. The Yamaha team from Massachusetts struggled during the second half of the season but after coming out early in the year with a win, they set themselves apart from the pack and clinched the 2nd place spot in 2007. We all wanted to see a battle between Armstrong and Cullen for the Championship Title, but the inclement weather prevented that from happening this day.

Cullen will be wearing a new set of custom racing leathers from Vanson® Leathers next season. For over 30 years, Vanson® has been producing the highest quality track tested apparel and safety garments available and we'd like to thank them for supporting the NSA Pro Stock asphalt sled program for the 3rd straight season.

Kenny Burlew (Thiells, NY) ran a career-best 8.497 elapsed time on the Chuckaroo Motorsports Skidoo at Epping qualifying 2nd just behind Steve Stanley (Gray, ME) on the Paul Austin Motorsports Skidoo. Gary Schweikert (Slatington, PA) also ran a career-best
8.598 ET on Saturday at New England Dragway putting him in the 4th spot.

Now in its third year of operation, the National Speed Association continues to enjoy strong fan popularity and for 2007 presented some of the best Pro Stock asphalt sled racing in North America. NSA traveled to several drag strips in 2007, including NYIRP
near Buffalo, NY, Toronto Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada, Pittsburgh Raceway Park in Pittsburgh, PA, the legendary Maryland Int’l Raceway at Budds Creek, and the season-closer at New England Dragway.

The NSA Pro Stock sled tour has been a great success with several different winners amongst the Ontario, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania teams. Cullen is now added to the list of great Champions from the last 3 seasons -
Jeremy Hannen (Durand, MI) in 2006 and Jason Dunigan (Jackson, MI) in 2005. Who will it be next year?

The last NSA points race will be held on September 8, 2007 during the Camoplast Asphalt Challenge at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. This has been an exciting and competitive season for the NSA Pro Stock sleds, which included new National records and career-best elapsed times.

The NSA Championship points chase has come down to the final race with all 4 major snowmobile manufacturers represented in the top four! Leading the points at present is Jeff Cullen of Gray, Maine on the Abbotts Power Equipment Polaris IQ with 398 points. Second with 369 points is Ed Armstrong of Holyoke, Mass on the A2Z Racing Yamaha V-max 4 and third is Paul Austin of Jackson, Michigan with 343 points on the Paul Austin Motor Sports / Dunigan Racing Skidoo. Austin is followed closely by Jeremy Hannen of Durand, Michigan on the San Marino Racing Firecat and Jay Pearl of Newport, Maine on the Bangor Motor Sports Arctic Cat. Cullen, Armstrong and Austin have all won NSA events this year which helped them leap forward to the front 3 spots. For the full NSA points listings, go to www.nationalspeedassociation.com

The Camoplast Asphalt Challenge featuring the NSA Pro Stock sleds will take place Saturday, September 8 at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. For information about New England Dragway, call (603) 879-6000 or visit online at www.newenglanddragway.com

Now in its third year of operation, the National Speed Association continues to enjoy strong fan popularity and for 2007 presented some of the best Pro Stock asphalt sled racing in North America. NSA traveled to several drag strips in 2007, including NYIRP near Buffalo, NY, Toronto Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada, Pittsburgh Raceway Park in Pittsburgh, PA, the legendary Maryland Int’l Raceway at Budds Creek, and the upcoming season-closer at New England Dragway.

The NSA Pro Stock sled tour has been a great success with several different winners over the last 3 seasons. Jeremy Hannen won the points championship in 2006 and Jason Dunigan was crowned champion in 2005 over the other Ontario, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania teams. Who will it be this year?

NSA in Maryland
Jeff Cullen (Gray, ME) took over the points lead with his win at Budds Creek on the Abbotts Power Equipment 2007 Polaris IQ. There were 15 very fast sleds at last weekend's NSA Pro Stock asphalt sled race at Maryland Int'l Raceway in Budds Creek, MD. Eight sleds were running 8.4-8.5 seconds and four other sleds were running 8.6-8.7 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Paul Austin (Jackson, MI) was the runner up of the event and set a new Pro Stock 1000cc National Record on his '05 Skidoo CK3. Austin ran an awesome 8.353 et in the first round of eliminations and then backed it up with a 8.213-second pass during the 2nd round of eliminations! Cullen beat out the quicker, but loosing Austin in the final with his better reaction time.

The next NSA points race is the Camoplast Challenge at New England Dragway in Epping, NH on September 8, 2007. This will be an awesome finale to the NSA Championship points series as Cullen, Austin and Armstrong battle it out for the NSA Title and the $2500 event purse!

Thanks,
Kristin Stanley

NSA in Pittsburg
The NSA race results from Pittsburgh Raceway Park, New Alexandria, PA Winner - Paul Austin, Jackson, MI R/U - Jeremy Hannen, Durand, MI
Race highlight - Paul Austin ran the quickest ET in asphalt history in eliminations with an amazing 8.355 ET
He was not quite able to back it up to set a new National Record, but it was an incredible sight to see!
His time slip was definitely something for the record books! RT .177, 60' 1.12, 660' 5.18, 1320' 8.35
This was round 3 of the NSA Championship Points Series. The points chase is very close and with 2 races left, the 2007 championship will come down to the last race!

Thanks,
Kristin Stanley

NSA in Toronto
Jeff Cullen wins the Cudney Racing NSA event in Ontario!

Jeff Cullen (Gray, ME) won the 2nd NSA Pro Stock points event of the season last weekend at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario. Cullen qualified 3rd on the Abbott’s Power Equipment Polaris and faced several tough competitors throughout the day. In the final round, Cullen met Ed Armstrong (Holyoke, MA) who qualified 4th on the A2Z Racing Yamaha and had run a career best 8.44 ET during round 1 of eliminations. Cullen was victorious in this crazy final where Armstrong fouled a plug and Cullen broke a belt! With a little luck and a better reaction time, Cullen managed to stay out front and get the win.

Paul Austin set a new Pro Stock 1000cc national MPH record of 155.10mph during qualifying on Saturday and backed it up with several 154+mph passes throughout the day. Austin also earned $250 from King Motorsports for being the first NSA Pro Stock sled in the 8.40’s this season with an awesome 8.429 elapsed time.

Special thanks to Cudney Racing for sponsoring the Cayuga event www.cudneyracing.com

NSA in New York
Ed Armstrong (Holyoke, MA) took the win on Saturday from the #2 qualifying spot at the first NSA Pro Stock asphalt points race of the season. Jason Dunigan gave Armstrong a run in the final with his better reaction time, but Armstrong’s sled was quicker, earning him the win. Kristin Stanley and Jeff Cullen rounded out the top half of the ladder with each of them earning the semi-final finish and prize money.

Even with the massive threat of rain, 17 Pro Stock sleds made the trip to New York for the first race of the 2007 NSA Tour last weekend. It was extremely hot and humid on Saturday with temps in the mid 90’s, but some impressive numbers were displayed from all the teams in spite of the overwhelming heat.

The next NSA Pro Stock sled event, presented by Cudney Racing, will be held on Saturday, June 16th at Toronto Motorsports Park, Cayuga, Ontario as part of the KC Auto Family Day Thunder Fest. For more information, please visit the NSA website at www.nationalspeedassociation.com

From Stan

Racing at Belcourt was great, entries were low in the 600, 700 and 800 open mod classes so jumped up to the 1000 class just to make a few passes with the big guys after traveling so far, Ian ran 2nd in the first heat in the 1000 open mod class and 3rd in the 2nd heat, and was ahead in the final at ¾ track when the antifreeze gods got in the wiring, but hey that’s racing. Also noted everywhere you go racing, everyone is willing to give advice and help a fellow racer. Thanks to Mark and Mike from Minot for the brake kleen. Also like to thank Bruce for all the info before heading down to the drags.

Ian in Prep

Handed out a lot of posters for the drags at Welwyn while in Minot and Belcourt , sounds like a lot of our friends to the south are coming, should be a great day.

Hope to see everyone out.

Thanks Stan & Ian

Condolences to The Krueger Family

As most of you may already know, Tracy and his son Alex were lost last Friday night in a senseless act of violence. Tracy's wife Hilary is still in Intensive Care at North Memorial Hospital, but in speaking with Tony tonight her condition has improved considerably since yesterday. We pray for her speedy recovery.
At the request of Tony, Wendy, Theron and the rest of the Krueger Family We will be holding the event as scheduled this weekend, as it is what Tracy would have wanted us to do. Tracy spent many hours along with Travis Boesch setting up the classes, writing the rules and solicitating prize money for this event. There are two 4' traveling trophies that will be awarded to the champion in each 440 Liquid Mod Stock and 440 Free Air classes. Along with $200 added to each of those classes. There is a additional $600 to be spead out in several of the other classes along with 100% payback. The track on Saturday the 10th will 500' long and on Sunday the 11th will go to 660' for the regular MSDRS event. Both Saturday and Sunday the racing is scheduled to begin at noon, any classes not completed on Saturday will be run first on Sunday before the regular MSDRS race begins. Both days should hold some great racing action. This event coinsides with the Waseca Sleigh and Cutter Festival.
On Friday night the 9th there will be a benifit dance for the Krueger family at the VFW in Waseca. A fund has been set up for those that would like to make contribution, when I have the complete information I will post it on the
MSDRS website.

MSDRS will be donating all proceeds from this weekends event to the fund being set up for the Krueger Family. If you have anyting that you would like to dontate that could be used as prizes or raffle items please feel free to contact me.

Thank You
Chris Hanson
MSDRS Race Director

Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber is all the rage. This new technology is not that new,
but it is new to the consumer.

Nextech has made the leap into developing carbon fiber sled parts. They have
produced a 9 inch wheel, which is the right size for the drag racing sled.
They manufacture an assortment of sizes for most sleds.
Nextech also manufactures A frame arms for some sleds as well.
It seems to me, that this product line up, may be for the sled looking
to tweek a few ounces.

These stats were taken right off the Nextech Site

carbon / epoxy has a density of 1.26 g/cc (0.0455 lb/in 3 ).
T6061-T6 aluminum has a density of 2.7g/cc (0.0975 lb/in 3 )
titanium alloy has a density of 4.7g/cc (0.17 lb/in 3 ) and
crmo has a density of 7.85g/cc( 0.284lb/in 3 )

New Look

Every Year Or So, I like to change things up a little. When the server went down, I got a good look at what was in the site. Lots of old crap and well over 1200 pages. A clean up was in order. Soooo....
while I was cleaning up, I thought it's time for a New Look. Thus you have Rebelsled.com version 5.
