First things First! Saturday ran the Ice out to finals. The
pleasant surprize for the weekend was a new pilot by the name of Trevor
Hogg. Now that name sounds familier. He placed in 4 classes on his
700 Prostock Ski-Doo. A couple of runs, I had thought the sled was
going to roll him over on the side. He was able to hang on, bring
it back and keep the trigger pulled. Hey Jamie, any relation to you? Another chap that has come a long way in a short time is a lad by the name of Ian Langley. Ian rides Mods and thats what Ian Likes! Drives his own Open Mod 600, and also is the sniper for Don Klassens fleet. Ian went up many times at the envelope toss. Way to go Ian and congratulations. With 1340cc of 4 cylinder mind warping
power, this Monster will not let Rick Sorken hold his thumb on for
very long. Rick has been attempting to tame the beast for a few years
now and I hope to see him in the new season, with the reigns on his
Icer!. Drifts N Waves, Bear Grease Racing and
King Pin Racing, all brought Ott Laslo had a spill on his sled on friday during testing. Wrecked the sled, and beat him up a bit, but all is OK according to Ott. Glad to see you were alright! Tim Palmer stood up a few times and collected his envelopes. The pilot in training went up with him and started to get used to the idea of picking up the cash!! Jamie Hogg did it again! He cleaned up
in the big gun classes. He claimed he's never raced in such good air.
Jamies open mod was in top notch form and was able to out wheel all
oncomers. Congratulations Jamie. Lots of snow racers kept the hosts and
the SSRA on their toes. A note to all the new racers that appeared
for this race. Don't let the pace turn you off! Local racers kept the days exciting. Not to say that the faithful are not stimulating, but to watch all the new blood out there, given all they got was absolutely great! Trent Diederich scratched a couple of wins with his Ol' Blue. Nothing was a given at this race, and all that won, really had to work at it! Maybe it was the chattering teeth, Huh Trent? New blood always leads to old problems. Troubles in understanding rules and the board, but thats racing. Patience on eveyones part proved to be a huge asset and hopefully made the weekend an enjoyable one. Thanks are definitly in order. Kevin
Zatorsky had his fair share of running, with keeping the lights lined
up. The competition was absolutely insane
for the Open King class. The placings were very close, but who was
to prevail? Thanks to Trent and George for getting
this event organized and running security. Thanks to all the sponsors
of the event. Thanks to all the volunteers and all the work they did! Just a note to the guy that was always
hollering about something. Remember, Its not about winning, its about Racing!
