The Canwood SnoBlazers Grass Drags/Mud Bog were Hot. Much like Fulda last season, it almost got unbearable for this short, fat german. The crowd was definitely up from last year. The 30+ degree heat had the beer gardens brewin and the well pumpin. The crowd seemed to enjoy it though. Blair Lesy and Crew
showed up with the renewed 1000 improver. The 1K was the property
of Duncan Trailers and was one of the machines in the trailer at
the time of the accident. I'm sure Helen Duncan was proud to see
Blair restore it to original colors and let it rip once again. This
was an impressive ride as he challenged the 800 open mod of Don
Klassen. Don pulled off the win, but "High Voltage" was
right there to make sure it was honest pass.
Don Klassen set the bar high, as he ran 5.002 on the first run of the day. This is old fashioned "Grass Drags", so this was truly a bullet performance. As the day went on, the passes got a little slower, but the competition got tighter. "Shakin Out Some of the Webs" is a good reason to make it to the first race of the season. This gives all the racers an advantage, because the rest will be shakin em out next race. A couple of Pilots that did'nt need too long was Ian Langley and Shane Goller. Shane being the "Old Pro" seemed to step right into action with no problems. "Back in the Saddle Again" sorta thing. Ian races almost anything that anyone will let him. At 130 lbs, Ian has a waiting list of rides to choose from. Ian had a couple of rough starts, but his trigger finger came around. He did'nt much of a response time for his King Quad. It would have rolled over anything on the field. Ian and Stan (Dad) also runs The Duncan Trailers Mod with a replaced 600. Some of the Big Boys were missing from this race, but that was OK. Some very cool racing kept the heat away, even if only for a second or 2. The new machine of Dave and Wes's looked a lot like one 2 years ago. After building a beautiful 78 Polaris, they returned to running a 700 Doo PS. They had good luck with the last Doo, and it looks like this one is from the same mould. Can't argue with the choice...if it works...it works! Stock classes were dominated by Brent Arnold of Arnold Performance. His competitive spirit has gained him #1 positions in various stock and improved classes. He love to race and has recently entered his children into junior classes. Lots of spirit in this chap! If we only had a bunch of Brents! It was the first race of the season and being a little shy on sleds was perfect. It gave us a nice siesta in the middle of the heats. The Canwood SnoBlazers did an outstanding job combining the races and bogs. It was nice, the way they split it up. Maxcelleration Racing was represented by Glen Lavalley. Being the elder of the two, he is one of the more recent entries to the sport. The sport has no personal limitations. It is the love of acceleration and adrenaline that keep people coming. If you ever thought you might like to try it...don't! Unless your ready for Great People, Great Locations, and Great Racing! Photos Results 1st 10 brent arnold
